Status Update
Shoplifting - In March, there were 4 incidents of theft from shop that have already resulted in a charge, three individuals who have offended separately have been bailed to appear at court. 2 incidents have resulted in a Community Resolution being issued. Officers have been conducting regular foot patrols in Staines targeting Shoplifting and Antisocial Behaviour. Local PCSOs have also been visible in Staines and have worked closely with security officers in the town centre for crime prevention.
Acquisitive Crime - Over the last several months various operations have been carried out targeting suspects utilising the travel networks with the aim of disrupting their offending. This has resulted in numerous successes including an arrest for theft of motor vehicle following a pursuit. We have also been proactively targeting prolific offenders, resulting in charges and remands for robbery, as well as using court conditions to deter reoffending and limit their access in and around Staines.

Regular high visibility foot patrols are being completed in Staines town centre. Ongoing work with partners regarding issues with anti-social bike use in the high street. Continued information gathering regarding issues with youths in the town centre.

Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG)

Status Update
Re-introduction of StreetSafe, which is a platform to report anything that makes women unsafe. Businesses approached to distribute the QR code/link to the platform. Please, if possible, place the poster on the Surrey Police website/social media platforms.
High visibility and plain clothes patrols increased. Focus on Town centre, Staines Railway station and Bus Station.
Several “Meet the Beat” engagements organised and utilised as an opportunity to share VAWG relating concerns.

Use of Bikes through the pedestrianised area of the town and the Public Spaces Protection Order.

Status Update
We have issued Section 59 warnings to individuals seen riding mopeds or motorcycles within the pedestrianised area. We has also been working with the council to have gates installed at both ends of the high street to deter vehicles from entering. Cyclists using the pedestrian zone have been reminded of the restrictions and asked to dismount while travelling through the area.

Use of Catapults against property and wildlife

Status Update
Across both Staines Town and the urban areas, we have been identifying individuals responsible for using catapults and dealing with them robustly. Several youths have been issued ASB letters, informing parents of their behaviour in an effort to prevent repeat incidents. We have also been putting appropriate safeguarding measures in place to ensure the welfare of those involved and to reduce the risk of further occurrences.
